LASIK- Post-operative Care

Just like pre-operative procedures and care, there are certain things that come under post-operative care. For starters, upon completion of your LASIK surgery, your surgeon will have you rest for a while. You may feel a temporary burning or itching sensation immediately after the procedure. You should expect some blurry vision and haziness immediately after surgery. However, clarity should improve by the next morning. Your eyesight should stabilize and continue to improve over a few days’ time, although sometimes in rare cases it may take few weeks or longer. But, generally for most people, vision improves immediately. It is advised to take rest for a couple of days and then go on toproceed for light daily work. Also, avoid rubbing your eyes completely, as there’s a small chance this could displace the flap until it heals and adheres more securely to the underlying cornea. Also, it is, as a rule, recommended that you refrain from any strenuous exercise for at least a week since this can disturb the eye and affect the healing process.Generally, you will have to return to see your eye doctor or your LASIK surgeon the day after the surgery.At this initial check-up, he or she will test your vision to make sure you can see clearly and do other daily activities without glasses or contact lenses.
