Monsoon do brings welcome relief from the scorching heat but it brings with it various bacteria and viral infection too. The whole experience is ruined when we start getting various eye infections and allergies. Common conditions are red eyes, itchiness and swollen eyes are very prominent at this time. Everyone should take care of their eyes in this season. Center for sight shares some important tips to help you get through this season and enjoy it too. Maintain good eye hygiene by keeping your eyes clean and dirt free. Wash your eyes often to keep the germs away. Don’t touch or rub the eyes without washing your hands. Blink often as monsoon can easily cause dry eyes. Blinking will help you in keeping eyes fresh, clean and hydrated. Drink as much water as you can to keep yourself hydrated. Always follow 20-20-20 rule to relax your eyes. Clean your contact lenses and eyeglasses before wearing it as there are high chances of getting eye infection as you use your hands to put them. Stay away from bacterial contamination and check for the expiry date of contact lenses before only. Keep your eye drops handy always. The moment you feel itchiness or some redness in or around your eyes, rinse them with cold running water. If redness or itchiness increases its better to visit doctor as early as possible. Stay away from dirty water and dust. Do not let rain water go inside your eyes and if went by mistake always rinse it with fresh water. In case of sand and dust storm, shield your eyes with protective eyeglasses.
