• I have pursued my training as a fellow in vitreo retina at this esteemed eye hospital. I am confident in clinical procedures like Indirect ophthalmoscopy, B-Scan ultrasound, interpretation of FFA, interpretation of OCT and ROP screening. I am competent in doing retinal lasers like PRP, laser barrage and macular lasers. I have independently performed core vitrectomies for endophthalmitis, nucleus drop and IOL dislocation. I have performed vitrectomies for retinal detachment independently. I am confident in performing scleral buckling surgery, silicone oil removal, lensectomy, membranectomy. I have performed sclera fixated IOL under supervision.

I joined the three-year basic structured training program in Ophthalmology, at this premier teaching institute, JJM Medical College, Davangere, Karnataka and graduated with Master’s Degree in Ophthalmology. It is a 1000 bedded busy tertiary hospital attached to a medical college. The department of Ophthalmology has 50 beds and 4 units, with 8 consultants.
My work involved attending the out-patient clinics, doing ward-rounds and refraction on regular basis. I was posted by rotation in different units involved in running various special clinics like glaucoma, retina and squint clinic. I also regularly assisted and performed independently various routine procedures in the OT like cataract surgery, DCR, entropion, enucleation, evisceration etc. I have independently performed about 50 ECCE, 35 SICS. I have also assisted in specialised surgical procedures like phacoemulsification, squint correction, vitrectomy and keratoplasty. I was also part of the team in organising many eye camps at our institute as well as in the periphery.
I was regularly on call duty for casualty where I was actively involved in the management of the ocular emergencies including surgical management of trauma cases.

Professor Mahipal. S. Sachdev, Chairman, Medical Director of Centre for Sight & President Elect of All India Ophthalmological Society was honored with Padmashri award on January 26, 2007. In the year 2017 he attained Professorship in Ophthalmology.
He is a renowned ophthalmic Surgeon who is recognized for his expertise in the area of Corneal, Refractive & Cataract Surgery, both nationally and internationally. He is widely credited to be pioneer in India in propagating the technique of Phacoemulsification for cataract surgery and Lasik Laser for removal of glasses. Professor Sachdev pursued his medical education at the graduate and post graduate level at All India Institute of Medical Sciences.. He later joined AIIMS as a Faculty Member. In the year 1989, he took up a Fellowship at Georgetown University, Washington DC to master the latest in ophthalmology.
In 1996, Professor Mahipal Sachdev stepped out of AIIMS with a dream of creating a world class eye hospital. “Centre for Sight” is an outcome of that. Professor Mahipal is a visionary and leader. He has always been the torchbearer in the field of eye care pioneering several procedures including laser assisted blade less surgery for cataract and Lasik. Prof. Mahipal was among the first to introduce Lasik and Phakic IOLs & Femtosecond laser technology for Lasik. Prof. Mahipal also has pioneered blade free Femto cataract technology in India.
Prof. Mahipal Sachdev has been active in imparting surgical training to the larger ophthalmic community. He has conducted several live surgery demonstrations in the remotest locations of India to teach and popularize the technique of suture less cataract surgery.. In the year 1999 he was inducted to the Summit Autonomous Society USA, which recognizes leading refractive surgeons globally. He is the Indian representative at the Asia Refractive Council and has been active in various international symposia and conferences, where he has conducted courses and presented over 150 papers. He has authored over 5 books on cataract & Refractive surgery ,today referred to by every budding Ophthalmologist. Prof. Mahipal is an active contributor of articles on eye health in mass media for the benefit of the general public also.

Dr Mayank Mahajan pursued his ophthalmology training at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. He did two years of his comprehensive training followed by advanced training in cataract and refractive surgeries at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. He was awarded the best outgoing fellow based upon his outstanding work and dedication towards patients.
Dr. Mahajan is a young dynamic physician who specializes in cataract, LASIK and refractive laser procedures. Dr. Sapna Raina completed her MS in Ophthalmology from Air Force Command Hospital, Bangalore. She has also attained DNB (Ophthalmology) and was awarded the MNAMS by the National Academy of Medical Sciences. She has also been awarded Fellowship by All India Collegium of Ophthalmologist (FAICO) in Glaucoma.
Dr. Sapna Raina’s clinical experience includes more than 13 years of distinguished service in the Indian Armed Forces at premium institutes including AFCME New Delhi and AHR&R Hospital as an Ophthalmologist and was Ist in Overall Order of Merit during Medical Officers Basic Course. She has extensive experience in Stitchless Cataract Surgery including premium lenses (Toric, Multifocal, Trifocal lenses), well versed in Retina Diagnostics and Medical Retina including Intravitreal Injections and Retinal Laser, Proficient in all Glaucoma diagnostics, therapeutics and surgeries.
Dr. Sapna Raina was Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Army College of Medical Sciences Delhi and UG Examiner for Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi.
She is an expert in Aviation Ophthalmology and was HOD (Ophthalmology) at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi for more than 8 years. She has been conducting Ophthalmological Examination & Evaluation for Defence and Civil Aviation Pilots in India. She has been key Specialist responsible for constantly reviewing and updating the Ophthalmic Standards for the conduct of medical examination for Defence and Civil Aviation Pilots by constantly researching and submitting papers in various national/international Aviation Medicine Seminars.
