Comprehensive Eye Check- Up

“Eyes are like windows to the world. Yet all too often we take this wonderful sense of sight for granted – only to be reminded of its importance when something goes wrong.”

With tremendous growth in IT sector, use of computers and television have become an integral part of our lifestyle which makes us prone to various eye related problems like Computer Vision Syndrome which if left untreated can hamper one’s vision.

Our eyes are forced to do continuous work almost throughout the day as most of our time is spent working on computers, reading, watching television etc. Our eyes also go through a natural ageing process like any other part of the body, which over time transforms into various eye related deficiencies and disorders.

Some of the common symptoms which one can experience by prolonged use of computers are:
  • Tiredness
  • Sore eyes
  • Eyestrain
  • Dry eyes
  • Red eyes
  • Fatigue
  • Repeated Headaches
  • Burning in eyes
  • Pain in and around the eyes
  • Glare sensitivity
  • Difficulties in Focusing
  • Excessive tearing
In order to prevent these problems, it is advisable that regardless of the age, one should go for eye check up regularly.

Eye problems can also be hereditary as well as acquired and may be associated with medical problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

  • People suffering from diabetes, hypertension or any other vascular disorder.
  • People with family history of eye disease.
  • People who use high minus or plus numbered glasses.
  • Adults should have their eyes tested to keep their prescription updated and to check for early signs of eye diseases.
  • Any change when observed with one’s vision like diminition of vision, flashes of black spots, visual field defects and distorted images etc.
  • All the children at least once before 5 years of age.
  • Children who have trouble seeing blackboard in school or who watch TV from close.
Some basic eye care tips are:

Proper Nutrition: Lack of proper diet is the root of many diseases that can affect the eyes. Eat lots of green, leafy veggies, which are rich in lutein, an antioxidant that research shows may help preserve eye health and deter the risk of macular degeneration.

Protect your eyes from the sun: Sun exposure has been linked to cataract formation and possibly macular degeneration. To Protect the eyes from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays, you need to make sure that your regular glasses and sunglasses have 100% UV protection.

Exercise: Aerobic exercise, in general, reduces eye pressure — which may be beneficial in the case of glaucoma.

Of course, don’t smoke! : Smoking increases the risk for eye diseases and vision problems. Smoking damages blood vessels, causing them to constrict and form atherosclerotic plaques — which can deprive the eye tissue of oxygen.

Consider eye health at work: Working on computers can cause eye fatigue and symptoms such as tired, dry, itchy or burning eyes. People can prevent eye stress by sitting correctly at the computer with the screen positioned slightly below the line of sight.

Have thorough eye exams: People should have a complete eye exam early in adulthood and then periodic exams as they get older, depending on their family history and individual risk of eye disease.

At CFS, all we have is a friendly ambience where you get a healing touch to solve your eye related problems.
