Cataract Services

Centre for Sight offers the latest phacoemulsification and micro incision cataract surgery (MICS) for the treatment for cataract.

Cutting Edge Technology

Centre for Sight has always kept pace with the changing technology and has adopted it for the patient's benefit. We are equipped with the state-of-the-art Stellaris, Signature and Infiniti systems: The latest generation phacoemulsification machines.

With the Stellaris Micro Incision Cataract Surgery system, cataract can be removed through a very small incision of 1.8 mm. The visual recovery is faster. There is minimal trauma to the ocular tissue. The patient can return to his normal activities within 24-48 hrs of the surgery.

The Whitestar Signature System enables the use of vacuum of over 600 mg Hg. This leads to reduced surgical time, less trauma to the eye tissues, less post operative reactions leading to faster visual recovery and allowing even very advanced cataract to be removed by phacoemulsification.

The Infiniti Vision System with the OZil® Torsional hand-piece phaco device has unique features like side-to-side oscillating ultrasonic movement. It emulsifies the lens material from both the directions, with its side-to-side movement, increasing its cutting efficiency. The dynamically adaptive software of OZil® Intelligent Phaco continuously monitors and responds to the ongoing phacoemulsification conditions throughout the procedure for more effective energy delivery, minimizing trauma to the ocular structure and optimizing post-operative outcomes.

The Latest Intraocular Lenses

Following cataract surgery an artificial lens (intraocular lens) is implanted into the eye. At Centre for Sight, we offer a wide array of intraocular lenses (IOL) to suit every patient’s individual needs.

The aspheric foldable IOL offers improved contrast and night vision; the toric IOL is suitable for patients with astigmatism and the multifocal IOL is able to focus near, intermediate as well as distant objects, thereby reducing dependence on glasses.

Centre for Sight was one of the first eye care centres in India to introduce the Crystalens accommodating IOL technology to its patients. Crystalens HD is the only FDA approved accommodating IOL and has been designed to move within the eye so that most patients will be able to see at all distances (near, intermediate and distance) without the need for glasses.
